Hello Friends!
Welcome to my brand new blog! I'll be using this space to share news, tips and tricks, advice and a bit about myself here. There’s an actual human being behind this business and I think it would be nice if you guys know a little bit about the Canadian Chick who does ya nails!
This one is on the personal side. This past week has been a doozy for me and I'm just feeling into offloading today.
I have a confession. 🫠
My life schedule has changed significantly recently. I've known it was coming for months and months, but up until last night I was in a constant state of chaos and panic over it. I didn’t know if, or how, I was going to manage everything..
My daughter was accepted into the EPS G&T program last year and we decided to enroll her in a school with a dedicated G&T program for this school year. We could have kept her where she was, but it would have been a case of her school doing their best to support her, and what we saw of that support last year left us pretty underwhelmed.. This move was in HER best interest and I would move mountains for my little babe 🥹
For ME it has been so stressful. Her new school is about a half hour from our house as the crow flies. Actually driving the streets of Edmonton the last week to get her to and from school, fighting rush hour traffic and CONSTRUCTION EVERYWHERE.. it’s about 3 hours of driving, sometimes more, sometimes less... EVERY. DAY.
I have been just so stressed thinking I wasn’t going to be able to manage everything.
My husband works out of town on contract jobs and he just returned to work 2 days ago after being home since April recovering from surgery following a workplace injury. Things were tough in our house over the summer, but we made it through. Now I’m home alone again and it’s up to me to take care of our daughter, the house and MY BUSINESS. I am currently in the BUSIEST period I have ever seen for my small business. My sales are insane and I’m SO grateful for that. While my husband is back to work, he’s only got about 2 months of work before his industry shuts down for the winter until February, at least. Since his surgery was sprung on us with only three weeks notice, we didn’t get a chance to save for the winter like we usually do. It’s gonna be a tough winter but it’s looking like my business will keep us afloat and for that… I am unbelievably grateful to YOU GUYS. You literally make it possible for me and my family to live and I cannot express my gratitude enough.
As for my personal schedule, yesterday I fell into a pretty good routine and I'm feeling some mental relief. I’ve had to readjust my schedule and split my “workday” but I got everything done. I rocked out all the sets I needed to in order to stay on track. I have my workdays planned and ready to rock. I’m meal planning so that I’m not resorting to easy garbage foods, packing lunches in advance so I'm not harried in the mornings. I’m still getting my strength training and cardio in. These things are so important to me, and while I will move mountains for my daughter.. I still want to move them for myself too and keep up with eating right and exercising.
So.. I’ve moved on from abject terror that I was going to FAIL…. to I CAN FUCKING DO THIS.
This is partly a pat on my own back (I needed it after this last week) and partly a PSA that we are more than we think we are. We can do more than we think we can. I am proud of myself, and I am proud of every other human who looks up at a seemingly impassable mountain and just starts climbing.
Was that cheeeeeesy? Yeah, it was. But I'm just feeling really good and I'm hoping you'll let that one sliiiide.
